Allotment Awards 2023

On Thursday 20th July 2023 a member of staff and two judges visited both Station Road and Dunstall Allotment sites, to allocate scores for each plot entered into the Studley Parish Council Allotment Awards 2023.
All three had a great day and really enjoyed looking round to see what the each plot holder had decided to grow.
Some information about the judges, in their own words –
Michael grew up in Redditch and had two allotments by the age of twelve, one for vegetables and one for chickens. I grew up on a farm, but my Mother was a keen gardener and grew a lot of vegetables. My Grandparents had an allotment and I can remember from an early age being allowed to pick/pull my choice of vegetables for lunch when we stayed, they always tasted so good.
Michael and I are keen growers, and keep chickens, I rarely buy green vegetables as we grow so many, we are also blessed with good friends who bring us ‘stuff’, I also grow cut flowers and enjoy taking cuttings.
Michael has a local wood yard and a lot of the local allotments get their wood requirements from him, we all swap plants and produce and I am a chiropodist, I take my patients the cut flowers, they all love sweet peas.
Winners of each category will be announced very soon and a notice will be placed at each allotment site. Well done all 🏆
Trophies will be awarded at The Annual Vegetable and Flower Show on 2nd September at Studley Sports and Social Club.
